Instructions For FloraFelt Planters

Florafelt vertical garden planters can be watered by hand. However, if you'd like to take advantage of the provided soaker hose in the panels, you can create your own automatic irrigation system for indoor walls or outdoor walls.

Outdoor Walls

PARTS:
   Hose Splitter
   Hose Timer
   Outdoor Automatic Irrigation Kit

STEPS:

  1. Attach Hose Splitter to your hose bib to give you one free access.

  2. Connect Hose Timer to your garden hose bib

  3. Attach the Hose Threaded Pressure Regulator to the timer

  4. Attach the Hose Thread x 1/2" Compression Swivel Adapter (Included in Kit) to the Pressure Regulator.

  5. Measure the distance between where the end of the garden hose will lay on the ground and where the existing irrigation line is in the Florafelt system.

  6. Cut the 1/2" hose (found in Kit) to this distance. Push one end of the 1/2" tubing into the end of the Adapter.

  7. Connect the other end of the 1/2" hose to the Reduction Coupler (In Kit).

  8. Insert the 1/4" Barbed Connector into the other end of the Reduction Coupler.

  9. Fit the 1/4" Emitter line (installed already in the top row of your FloraFelt Planter) to the Connector.

  10. Set your timer for the desired amount of time and turn on your hose.

  11. Test the system to be sure the water pressure is correct and water is being released from the Emitter Line.

Indoor Walls

PARTS:
36" Water Reservoir OR 24" Water Reservoir
    Pump
    Indoor Automatic Irrigation Hose Kit

OPTIONAL PARTS:
Digital Timer Power Center - Automatically turns your light, water, and heat sources on and off
Maxsea Fertilizer - Strongly suggested due to the limited soil volume afforded each plant
Cordmate Kit - If you are creating a Hidden Irrigation System you will need this to hide the tubing. It can be painted the color of your wall.

STEPS:

  1. Measure the distance between the top of the vertical garden and the bottom of the water reservoir.

  2. Cut the ¼" hose (found in the Automatic Irrigation Hose Kit) to this distance.

  3. Locate the drip line hose that came installed in the your Florafelt Garden (top row for the 12-Pocket, bottom row tucked behind the felt for the 4-Pocket systems).

  4. Attach the ¼" hose that you cut to size to the other end of the drip line hose.

  5. Screw the 1/2" Nipple (found in the Automatic Indoor Irrigation Kit) into the opening in the Pump. Then thread the Line Adapter (found in the Automatic Irrigation Hose Kit) onto the Nipple.

  6. Attach the end of the ¼" hose to the line adapter.

  7. Fill your Water Reservoir with water and water soluble fertilizer such as Maxsea 16-16-16.

  8. Place the pump at the bottom of the Reservoir, pushing down until the suction cups have engaged.

  9. Plug the pump into your Timer and set the timer for when you want you're your new Automatic Irrigation System to turn on and off.

  10. Turn it on to make sure it is working properly.

  11. Pat yourself on the back. You did it!
